JACKS A WINNER!!!!

Yeah! Thanks to everyone who voted for Jack in the Nightmare catagory for the Holiday Softies Award over at Softies Central. There was a lot of great work and I feel honored.

I've been very busy working on four pieces right now and that is why I haven't posted much in the last week. I want to finish them all before I show you what I've been working on. That way I can explain it all at once. So hopefully by the weekend I can get some good pics and make a post.

I've also been cleaning up my studio and have a few older plush pieces laying around that never sold and need a home. I think I'm going to open up an etsy account and try and sell them. I've had a few emails from people asking if I sold any of my work. Look for this in the next week or two. I'll make a post about it when I have it all set up.

PIRATE MONKEY!

So I found a little extra time this week and made another entry for the Holiday Softie Awards. I made one of those cymble playing monkeys but made him a pirate too. Rrrr!

JACK COMPLETE

Jack is done and i'm super happy with him!!!! The box tooka while but it was totally worth it. He stand about 20" high and the box is 6 1/2" square. I have yet to post the pics to the Softies pool but will probably do that tonight or tomorrow.

JACKS BOX

I am still working on my Jack in the Box for the Holiday Softie Awards. I am still working on the box and hope to be done by the end of the weekend. It's taking me a little longer than I anticipated. I made it a little bit more detailed by painting a Halloween scene all the way around the box. I couldn't just make a plain box. The illustrator in me had to paint the blank box. I hope to post it by Sunday.

JACK

Well Jacks body is done and I couldn't be happier!! Now I have to make a box. Luckily I have till the 31st to finish him. I was a little worried the deadline would be sooner. That's why I worked so fast to get the body done because i knew the box would take a while. The photo isn't the greatest. I was in a hurry. I'm supper pleased with his hands. My hands cramped up so bad trying to turn those inside out. But totally worth it! Thank goodness fleece has stretch to it.
I also took the time to knit a tiny little scarf. I then added some floral wire through the stitches so that it would stand on its own and look like it's blowing in the wind. I'll get a much better shot of him when he is done.

EVIL JACK IN THE BOX

So I've completed Jacks head. I am super pleased him!! I've already started working on his body. Maybe I need to do a series of demented toys. It's hard to top Tim Burton though so maybe not.

BACK TO BUSINESS

So I took a little break this last week. I cleaned my very messy studio which desperatley needed it. After getting everything together for Plush You it looked like a fabric bomb went off. Little bits of scraps and thread everywhere. When I start tracking bits of thread throughout the rest of the house I know it't time to clean. Plus I have a dog who will eat anything and everything off the floor.
It was such a nice weekend we planted 50 tulip bulbs and transplanted some bearded irises. We also started putting in a stepping stone path along the side of the house that will end at our arbor/gate. I didn't touch my sewing machine once this weekend. It was nice to get some other stuff done. I also started my multi colored stripey scarf last week. It's a nice project to do While watching tv. Maybe I'll post a pic.
I've posted a sketch of my next plush I hope to start this week. The people over at Softies Central are doing another Softies Award with a Holiday theme. One of the catagories is Creepy/Cute Nightmare Before Christmasish. So I thought I'd take a crack at it. I was not prepared this spring when they did the 2007 Softies Award so I just entered stuff I had lying around. Which I wasn't pleased with doing because I know if I had had time I could have produced something I was really happy with. So I'm on the ball this time! Maybe I'll post a pic of his head this weekend.
