FLYING MONKEY'S

I've finally started working on the pieces for Plush You this year. I've decided to make the flying monkey's from the Wizard of Oz. I've had them in my head for a while. I plan on making two of them, each a little different from the other. I'll post some pics of the body as soon as I get it done. But I think the most impressive part of these guys is going to be the wings.
I searched for imagery of the flying monkey's from the books and the movie and will use both to interpret my own version.

A really, really rough sketch

GOTH GIRL PLUSH

She's all done! I keep calling her Cordelia. I don't know why but that's who she'll be to me. She measures14 1/2in tall and her head measures 8 1/2in wide. The main body is made of fleece and felt and the dress is made of lace, silk and velvet ribbon.

Her sad little worn out doll.

STUFFED MAGAZINE VOL II

I've got work again in Stuffed Magazine. This is Volume 2 that will hit stores Wednesday July 1st. I found the last issue, January's issue, at Borders. So I'm guessing it's pretty easy to find.
Though I didn't make the front cover my name did. Of course they spelled it wrong, but that's ok.

YUMMY!!

Look at the great fabric I've found to make the dress for the goth girl. I managed to find some lace for the sleeves after all. Originally I thought I'd have to find a different fabric because I was afraid I wouldn't find a lace pattern that was small enough. But I did! I've actually got half the dress complete and will posting a pic soon. It's turning out GREAT!

It's not the best photo but here's a pic of goth girls body. I did manage to finish her bloomers, socks and boots.

GOTH GIRL HEAD

So I've finished the girls head last night. I am very happy with how she's turning out so far. If the rest of her goes as planned I can see it will be hard to let her go. The dowl rod is about 1/2" wide and goes all the way to the top of her head for stability. The rest of that rod will be inside her torso.

LUNCHING WITH THE DECEASED

I don't usually post pics I take other than my work but I really loved how these pictures turned out, so I thought I'd share some of them.

Last friday, during lunch, a group of us took a walk over to Union Cemetery in Kansas City. Union Cemetery dates back to pre Civil War and holds some pretty important people. Mostly important to the Kansas city area, but George Caleb Bingham, famous 19th century artist, does rest here.

Yikes! Poor Catherine's grave has collapsed in on itself.

GOTH GIRL ILLUSTRATED

Had some free time so I decided to finish that doodle. I think her voice would sound like Mandy's from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, one of my favorite cartoons. Wish they'd make more.

GOTH GIRL DOODLE

Here's one of sketches for a commissioned piece I'm working on. I'll try and post some pics of her in her stages of development. It's nice to be done with my mermaids and moving on to something else. I've also got to start working on my pieces for Plush You. I'm gonna be busy, busy the next couple of weeks.
