MEAT SWEATS!

So I took a quick break this week and made some rotten chicken. It was actually a gift for a friend. There is a long story to this and I won't go into detail. I've actually had this idea in my head now for over a year but haven't really done anything with it because plush meat has been done so much. But I wanted to call this series "Meat Sweats" they would all be packaged meats of some sort and all would be going bad or on the verge of going bad. I like the idea of the one chicken still ok but he sees his fate as the rest of the chicken around him go bad. Hence the title Meat Sweats. They'd be sweating and freaking out over there inevitable end. I've got sketches from packaged hotdogs to t-bone steaks. It may be something I come back to. They are definitely a lot simpler than most of the stuff I'm working on these days.
Meat...it's what's for dinner. Only don't eat the green meat!

FYI

I've been asked which store my plush will be on display at during the Plush You Show. I should probably give out that information. I will be showing at Schmancy. I will not be able to attend, though I'd love to!!! I hate to miss it. Maybe next year. Check out my stuff and feel free to email me with any questions or comments. I love to hear from fellow plushers!!!!!

EVIL JACK IN THE BOX

So I've completed Jacks head. I am super pleased him!! I've already started working on his body. Maybe I need to do a series of demented toys. It's hard to top Tim Burton though so maybe not.

BACK TO BUSINESS

So I took a little break this last week. I cleaned my very messy studio which desperatley needed it. After getting everything together for Plush You it looked like a fabric bomb went off. Little bits of scraps and thread everywhere. When I start tracking bits of thread throughout the rest of the house I know it't time to clean. Plus I have a dog who will eat anything and everything off the floor.
It was such a nice weekend we planted 50 tulip bulbs and transplanted some bearded irises. We also started putting in a stepping stone path along the side of the house that will end at our arbor/gate. I didn't touch my sewing machine once this weekend. It was nice to get some other stuff done. I also started my multi colored stripey scarf last week. It's a nice project to do While watching tv. Maybe I'll post a pic.
I've posted a sketch of my next plush I hope to start this week. The people over at Softies Central are doing another Softies Award with a Holiday theme. One of the catagories is Creepy/Cute Nightmare Before Christmasish. So I thought I'd take a crack at it. I was not prepared this spring when they did the 2007 Softies Award so I just entered stuff I had lying around. Which I wasn't pleased with doing because I know if I had had time I could have produced something I was really happy with. So I'm on the ball this time! Maybe I'll post a pic of his head this weekend.

GROUP SHOT

So I thought I'd share a group shot I took last week too of all the carney's I've done to date. I've got doodles of the sword swallower and snake charmer that I'd like to do some time. But right now I just bought some yarn to make a stripey scarf for myself. So I think I'm going to work on that this week. I'm kind of slow at the whole knitting thing so it might take a while. I often start and stop. But it will be a nice change of pace.

OFF TO PLUSH YOU

Well here they are. Tagged and and all ready to be shipped. I'm pretty happy with how these all turned out. I took some really good photos of them individually and as a group too. So if they sell and I never see them again at least I'll have a good photo of them. I actually found it pretty hard boxing them up. They've been sitting around for so long I got attached to them. I really fell in love with the twins. I struggled with them for so long and even set them aside thinking I'd move on to something else because I was so frustrated. But wouldn't you know it I gave them a second chance and they turned out great and I like them the most.
So I have doodles for more sideshow freaks but think I might take a little break and do something else. The weather is getting nicer and I can get back outside and tend to my plants. I've been so focused on working on the stuff for Plush You that it's a bit of a downer now that I'm done. I could use some creative rejuvenation.

4 ARMS, 3 LEGS, 2 HEADS, 1 STOMACH!!

I've completed the twins and have been meaning to photograph them but I decided they needed a stand. So needless to say I've been procrastinating doing that till today. Now they stand perfectly and are done. So I'm pleased with the three pieces I've chosen for Plush You and all I need to do now is take some photos, make some tags and box them up real good so I can mail them off. I hope to do that in the next day or two. I'll post a pic of three all together before I box them up.
