BIRDIES

Here are the birds I mentioned a while ago. I created these for Art Unleashed. It's a silent and live art auction that benefits the Humane Society of Kansas City. I've done this for five years now and it's been fun coming up with something different every year. You basically just have to stick with an animal theme for your piece. Every year I've done a cat or dog or both. This year I decided to do something different. I think these would look great on a book shelf in between books. I decided my animal heads on plaques probably wouldn't have gone over very well so I went super cute and not so twisted. The birds measure about 6"x6" and I used wooden rods for the pirch and wooden plaques for the bases.

MAD SCIENTIST

I thought I'd post an illustration today since I haven't done that in quite a while. I think this guy would make an awesome plushy. Maybe after I finish the plushies I have due for some of upcoming shows I'll make this guy.

ROBOTS 3, 4, & 5

I've been waiting weeks now to finish these guys. I needed to cut wooden bases for them and I haven't been able to get to my work bench because of the pile of lumber still in the garage from working on our deck. We're still working on the deck and I couldn't wait any longer to get these guys done. So I waded through the piles of wood and tools to search for my jigsaw. I hate having a messy garage and I hate even more not having my tools in their designated spots.
So here are robots 3, 4 and 5. Number 6 still needs a base and I hope to get to him tomorrow.
I've currently started working on some little birds that will be for an art auction that benefits the local Humane Society. more on that later!

CRAMMED ORGANISM SHOW JUNE 6, 2008

What an awesome show!!! I went to the first of the four Crammed Organism shows at Star Clipper Saturday. It was so much fun to see people's work in person. I got all giddy seeing the work of people I admire. I'd have to compare it to seeing a movie star, as cheesy as that sounds. I took more photos and they are on Flikr. Feel free to grab any that you'd like and post them on your blogs or websites. I tried to get as many shots as I could. Enjoy: )

WHAT I'VE BEEN UP TO

Well I haven't gotten a whole lot of sewing of any kind done in the past 2 weeks. We are in the process of building a deck with a pergola and that is pretty much consuming my time along with the baby, plus I officially go back to work on Monday. Yep back to the day to day work schedule. These past three months of maternity leave have been great and I've gotten a ton of my own work done. The next couple of weeks will be a bit of an adjustment on figuring out time to be able to work on my plushies. I do have some unfinished robot plushies laying on my work table as well as sketches for some Wizard of Oz plushies. Next weekend is the big opening for the Crammed Organism show in St.Louis and I'll be going to that. I'll be posting pics to share for those who can't make it.
