BIRTHDAY DOLL

Here's the finished doll. It turned out super cute. I also made a matching dress for my daughter. I think she's going to love it. She's finally become interested in stuffed animals and anything soft.

The flower trim on the dress was made by my friend Alyssa. She makes lace by tatting. Tatting is the art of making lace using one or more shuttles or using a shuttle and a ball.

Here's the finished head.

Now I just have to finish the body and put the two together.

BABY DOLL

I've started on working on a doll (as well as a few other things) for my daughters first birthday that is coming up here in a couple of weeks. Which I can't believe it's been a year. Anyway... I've found it pretty hard trying to come up with a simple design. No buttons, nothing that can easily pulled off, no wire armature, etc. I like making complicated plushies and this has forced me to think differently. I'm sure once I'm finished and give it to her she'll find something to pull at or rip off.
So here's my doodle of the doll. It's kind of a cross between a Powerpuff Girls and the designs for the Harajuku Lovers fragarance bottles. Very simple and graphic character with a big head. I hope to have the head done tomorrow and I'll post a pic.

MWAAAHAAAHAAA!!

It sounds better when I say it then when you try to write it out. Imagine that's my villain talking.

I finished these guys up this weekend and will sending them off to Stuffed Magazine this week. The girl is about 14" tall and the villian is 20" tall. His hat is 5" of that. The train tracks are made of balsa wood and she is sewn to them. Maybe I should have made a plush train to go with them since the train really is the third character in this scene.

Made of fleece and denim(jacket).

Made of fleece and rope.
