MORE CRYTOZOOLOGY SKETCHES
I've finished working on Momo and the Ozark Howler I mentioned in a previous post. I hope to get a picture taken of them tomorrow. I don't have the shadow boxes made for them. I thought I'd wait till I have all four complete before I start that. But I can at least show you the two I've completed even without the boxes.
Here are the sketches for the other two creatures. The bird like creature is called Piasa and the cat is called Nellie. Again these creatures of Cryptozoology are local to the midwest, mainly the St. Louis area. I'll give their full story when I have them complete and I have good pics taken of them all.

CRYPTOMUNDO.COM
My doodles of Momo and the Ozark Howler made
CRYPTOMUNDO.COM. You should check out this website. It is highly informative on this subject matter. I do have to apologize for catagorizing the Ozark Howler with Cryptozology since it is a known hoax. I was simply searching local lore and found him interesting. You can read all about him at their site. It is an interesting story. There is also some other artists take on what Momo might look like.
I was able to work on the O. Howler today, which felt really good. I hadn't touched my sewing machine in over 2 weeks. It was nice to get back, even if it was brief.

CRYPTOZOOLOGY
Well In between feedings and changings I've managed to do some sketches for the Crammed Organisms show. I've put Hansel on hold because I need to get going on these four pieces for this show since it is first. Since the theme of the Crammed Organisms show is Fairytales, Folktales & Folklore I've decided to do pieces based on local folklore. The scientific term for these creatures is CRYPTOZOOLOGY, meaning the study of evidence tending to substantiate the existence of, or the search for, creatures whose reported existence is unproved, as the Abominable Snowman or the Loch Ness monster. Here are sketches of two of them. The blue guy is Momo or the Missouri monster and the orange guy is the Ozark Howler. I'll tell you more about their stories later. I'm thinking these pieces will be hangable in a shadowbox. So the pieces won't be super three dimensional but a little more flat. I like the idea of plush hanging on walls rather than standing on your shelf where they just get lost. I think if I stick to these colors they will really pop against the black background of the box.
