I finished up Marie. It took me a while to figure out how I wanted to do the skirt. I knew it had to be big and full but I didn't want to stuff it. So I decided to basically make a hoop skirt. Sewn into the hem of the skirt is a 12" wooden embroidery hoop. It lays perfectly flat and the actual stand is under the skirt. I did have to make a bum roll for her waist so that the top of the skirt puffed out.
OMG... Robyn... you have no idea the sick fascination I have with Marie Antoinette... 1500 TUDOR England... and the Renaissance. She is amazing!! I absolutely love the look on her face. She was a young girl with privilege and HOLY COW did you get the look right!! :)
I'm new to your website, but I saw you in a magazine and I love your stuff...and Marie Antoinette is absolutely gorgeous. I am in awe of your work. AWE.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I'm totally digging her too. Now I need to make a plush slice of cake.
